The more typical boy meets girl story is that boy or girl asks the other out, they go out, they fall in love, and if the stars align, they get married. That is not our story. We have never tried to be typical. In reality, it all started over the second half of sophomore year at High Point University, where a mutual friend (thanks, Rhys) brought Lexie and Daniel together as friends. Daniel had just returned to school after almost 10 months off to become a U.S Marine. He was underweight, rocked a crew cut and was awkward after only being around other young men for such a long time. So let’s be honest—their first impressions weren’t exactly love at first sight, or at least Lexie’s first impression. But for those who know Daniel, they know he is relentless and for those who know Lexie, they know she goes beyond first sight and looks for the good in everyone.

Somewhere along the way a real friendship formed. Daniel, ever persistent, asked Lexie out on a date more times than she could count, and each time, she said no. But their friendship continued and grew stronger and when life then took them in the same direction, something magical changed. When Lexie accepted a job and moved closer to Daniel in Philadelphia, they saw each other and spoke regularly, plus after Covid hit, rather than create space, they created closeness. So…she finally said yes—and the rest is history.

From Philadelphia to Atlanta, and now Raleigh, Lexie and Daniel built a life full of love and laughter, ate their way through a few new cities along the way and adopted a dog named Vinny. And then on one very special day in Raleigh as they got the keys to their first home together and walked into their new space, Daniel asked one more very different type of important question. This time, Lexie did not hesitate and did not say no!
